Summary
CountDay.org is a free utility for tracking countdowns to dates. The countdowns you create stay in your browser. The site uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and Google AdSense to display ads, both of which set cookies and may receive limited information about your visit. This page explains exactly what is collected, how it is used, and the rights you have over your data.
Who we are
For the purposes of this policy, "CountDay," "we," "our," and "us" refer to the operators of the CountDay.org website. The site is operated from [Jurisdiction]. If you have a privacy question, write to [email protected].
Information we collect
Countdowns you create. When you add a countdown, the event name, date, emoji, and direction are written to your browser's localStorage. This data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers. We cannot read it, restore it, or transfer it between devices.
Standard server logs. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure records basic technical information when a page is requested — typically IP address, user-agent string, referring URL, and timestamp. Logs are used for security and to keep the site running.
Analytics events. The site loads Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-MK5PVK6WL0). Google Analytics records page views, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser type, and how you move between pages. We use these reports in aggregate — to understand which pages are popular and where the site is slow. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Advertising data. CountDay.org participates in the Google AdSense program. Google and its partners may set cookies and use device identifiers to serve ads, including ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Details on the cookies AdSense uses are on the Cookies page. To control how Google personalises ads to you, visit Google Ad Settings. The full Google advertising privacy notice covers what advertising partners may collect.
How we use this information
- To run the site and keep it secure
- To understand which pages are useful and which are not
- To display ads through Google AdSense, which helps fund the site
- To respond to messages you send to our contact addresses
We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and similar technologies
CountDay.org and its third-party services use cookies and browser storage. The categories in use are described on the Cookies page, including how to opt out and how to disable cookies in your browser.
Third-party services
We rely on the following third parties; each has its own privacy policy:
- Google Analytics — site traffic analytics. Google Privacy Policy.
- Google AdSense — display advertising. Google Ads Privacy.
- Google Fonts — typography. Google may receive your IP address when fonts load.
These services may transfer data to the United States or other countries where Google operates. Google publishes the safeguards it applies to these transfers in its policies linked above.
Legal bases for processing (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with a comparable framework, the legal bases we rely on are:
- Legitimate interest for keeping the site available, secure, and improving it through aggregate analytics.
- Consent for advertising cookies and personalised ads, where required by your local law. You can withdraw consent at any time through Google Ad Settings or by clearing cookies.
- Legal obligation where we are required to retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Request access to information about you that we hold
- Request correction or deletion of that information
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent for cookie-based advertising
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority
Because the countdowns themselves never leave your device, you can exercise access and deletion of that data directly through your browser by clearing site data or removing individual countdowns. For requests about server logs or analytics records, write to [email protected] and include enough detail for us to identify the relevant records (IP address ranges, approximate dates).
California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what categories of personal information are collected, the purposes for which they are used, and to request deletion. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising in a way that requires an opt-out beyond what is provided by Google Ad Settings. You can submit a privacy request to [email protected].
Children
CountDay.org is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention
Server logs are typically rotated within 30 to 90 days, depending on the hosting provider's policy. Analytics data retention is configured at the default Google Analytics 4 setting and may be shortened on request. Countdown data stored in your browser persists until you remove it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Your countdowns are stored locally and are protected by your device and browser. Treat your device like any other place that holds personal information — keep your operating system and browser up to date.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change or when we add a new third-party service. The "Last reviewed" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Significant changes are announced on the home page.
